HeyCuckoo Books is a small, independent publisher of humor books for grown-ups. Our books look like gag gifts and read like your smartest friend, the one who actually read the study.
What we publish
Every HeyCuckoo title pairs real psychology research with real-life stories, told in a dry, deadpan voice. You get the laugh and the explanation for why the thing happened to you, usually on the same page.
We publish in series. The Dating Series covers the swiping, the texting and the meeting of parents. The Breakup Series covers everything after. The Workplace Series covers the forty hours a week in between. More series are on the way, along with new authors.
Why a cuckoo?
A cuckoo shows up right on time, says one thing very loudly, and disappears back into the wall. It seemed like the right mascot for books about dating, breakups and meetings that could have been an email.
Who reads us
People who have been through it, and the friends who want to hand them something better than a greeting card. Our books are built to be gifted, left on a coworker’s desk, or read in a single sitting on the couch while ignoring a text.
